RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court was in Rice Lake last weekend.
Judge Susan Crawford met with voters at the Barron County Democrat Party headquarters on Saturday, as she campaigns for a seat on the State Supreme Court.
Crawford was trial lawyer for the Wisconsin Department of Justice. She prosecuted healthcare fraud and malpractice cases, and represented the state in felony appeal cases. Since 2018, she has been a Dane County Circuit Court Judge.
“My approach in decision-making is to apply common sense and make sure I get the facts right in every case and apply the law in a way that protects Wisconsinites,” Crawford said.
She said her opponent, Waukesha County Judge and former Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel, has been politicizing an election that should not be.
“He has been out there with his campaign saying how he would decide cases and that’s a violation of the judicial code, for one thing. And it’s inappropriate to interject those kind of issues into a supreme court race,” Crawford said.
Crawford and Schimel are running for an open seat left by the retirement of Justice Ann Walsh Bradley. The election is April 1.
