WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRN) — Local Wisconsin utilities check in with members of Congress.
Manitowoc Public Utilities general manager Troy Adams was among the group with American Public Power Association to meet with legislators in Washington D.C. last week. The vibe in Washington is different under this second Trump presidency.
“We have been told in a couple of different offices that nobody really knows what’s going on and what’s happening this year. There have been a lot of executive orders, different than normal,” Adams said.
The group addressed several topics with those legislators, including the protection of tax-free municipal bonds and tax credits, along with enacting energy permitting reform and fixing the supply chain issues.
“Reliability is key for electric and supply chain kind of plays into that too. We need access to materials,” Adams said.
There were a lot of scary what ifs discussed, but Adams did say that MPU is in a good place right now.
