MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — At the Capitol, a brewing dispute over tax cuts and the state budget.
Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature have expressed a desire to pass a tax cut before they complete work on a two-year state budget. Democratic Governor Tony Evers doesn’t think much of that idea.
“They have an interest in doing this and I think it’s bad policy, but it’s horrendous policy when you don’t know what’s happening in Washington, D.C. and how that how this mess is going to play out,” Evers said.
During a WisPolitics luncheon in Madison on Tuesday, Evers said he would probably veto such a tax cut should it reach his desk prior to a completed two-year state budget plan.
