On this day in US history, two teenage gunmen killed 13 people at a shooting spree at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, on April 20, 1999. The shocking killings went on to prompt a national gun debate that is ongoing to this day. In 2022, there were 46 school shootings, a dramatic rise from 2018, which saw 11.
